The Im-ple-ment Archive is a union of craft and tool, metal and earth, marrying the skills of Linda Tien and Ellen Kleckner playfully in the landscape of the uncanny valley. The archive is colored by a reinforcement of the perseverance and fluidity of individual and collective identity. One hesitates to define the objects or the archive in general - yet the archive extends a warm invitation into the dissonance of the urge, the attempt, and the guess. A joyous inquisition of convention and definition.

Im-ple-ment Archive

A joyous inquisition of convention and definition. The Im-ple-ment Archive is an evolving collaborative exploration of tools, utensils and other pieces of equipment used for a particular purpose between visual artists Ellen Kleckner of Iowa and Linda Tien of Indiana. Applying an intuitive consideration to the familiar visual vocabulary established by a lineage of makers - through both process and material - the IA questions the commonplace or recognizable. Through altering "domestic" forms, the IA acts as a documentation of the evolution of utility, form, function and maker through the employment of cooperative play and exploration tempered with tradition.

In addition to being a featured artist with Glass Breakfast you can find the work of the Im-ple-ment Archive at im-ple-ment.com and on Instagram, as well as their individual work at ellenkleckner.com and lindatien.com.
