Adopting a practice akin to a monk or martial artist, Gnat Bowden embodies, resists and critiques with a researched abandon. With steel-like concepts wrapped in the warm blanket of nostalgia Bowden converses and supplants the American aesthetic of brutality. Much like climbing a mountain, both in journey and in summit.

A conceptual researcher, Gnat Bowden galvanizes art with music, embodiment, community leadership and curation to support and critique. Working with the American aesthetic of brutality, Bowden's projects consist of numerous works on paper, minute-long sonic pieces, year-long performance work, in addition to curatorial collaborations with Hoy Polloy in Indianapolis and Abattoir Gallery in Bloomington.
